Principal's Message
I am very fortunate to be the Principal at Glen Tay Public School. It is a great place to learn and work. The caring, community atmosphere makes it a great place to walk into every day. The students are always smiling and eager to talk about what they have discovered, what's going on in their lives, and/or what they are currently learning. The staff is very dedicated to our students, working together as a team to support students and each other. Our parents are amazing. We have a very active School Council that will help out in anyway it can. We have a lot of parent volunteers who generously donate their time in various ways to the school. We are also fortunate to have a lot of community volunteers supporting our students.

Hearing what the students have to say is very important to me. For this reason we have developed a Student Council this year that I meet with at least once a month. They know that they can come to me with their concerns and wishes and that we will work together to make the school even better. I also have lunch with random groupings of eight students a couple of times each week. We talk about school safety, what they are currently interested in at school, and what they would like to see happen in their school. It builds the family feeling having JK to grade 6 students eating lunch together and listening to each other's thought and ideas.

I want all students to reach their potential in all subject areas, especially language arts and mathematics. Staff members are skilled at supporting students who are struggling and offering supports to close gaps. Collaboration with parents is key. All our children can benefit from being read to and reading at home. Playing games that involve money, logic, keeping score, building, piece transformations (puzzles, Lego, etc.) is a fun way to build transferable math skills. Please contact your child's teacher if you want more suggestions as to how you can support your child at home with his/her learning.

It is important for me to make sure that our students feel safe and respected at our school. If you ever have a concern or uncertainty, pleased do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or me. I believe open communication and home-school collaboration is very important.  Please reach out to us as soon as a question or concern arises so that we can work together to address it.
