Glen Tay Public School opened to students on Wednesday May 1, 1968. Fourteen small rural schools amalgamated into one school community on that day. The official opening ceremony took place in November, 1968. The school was initially a K-8 school, switching to a K-6 school in September 2014. There are currently 106 students at Glen Tay. The students are very much one big family, looking out for each other. It is common to see older students helping out and playing with younger students. This kind, caring atmosphere is fostered by a very dedicated staff and many parent/community volunteers.
